COP 011. Cooperative Work Program Full-Time. 12 Hours.

Students seeking university recognition of full-time cooperative education (co-op) experience should register for this course. Co-ops typically comprise full-time, paid, work with an employer related to a student’s area of study (e.g. 16+ weeks of full-time work in conjunction with the fall or spring semester). Full-time co-op work comprises a minimum of 33 hours per week. Students must register before the semester he or she plans to participate in a co-op. The course will not be posted retroactively if a student fails to register by the last day to add classes in a given semester. This course has requirements for participation, including but not limited to an employment offer letter, student mid-term evaluation, and student/employer final evaluation. Failure to register for a co-op course may affect a student’s status at UAB as well as eligibility for loan deferment and/or health insurance. Eligible students participating in COP 011 maintain enrollment status while on co-op through this course. Co-op hours are non-credit bearing and may not be used to satisfy degree requirements. **Engineering students with questions regarding co-op versus internship course registration and experience should contact the Engineering Career Center.

COP 012. Cooperative Work Program Part-Time. 6 Hours.

Students seeking university recognition of part-time cooperative education (co-op) experience should register for this course. Part-time co-ops work with an employer related to a student’s area of study (e.g. 16+ weeks of part-time work in conjunction with the fall or spring semester). Part-time co-op work typically comprises a minimum of 15 hours per week. Students must register before the semester he or she plans to participate in a co-op. The course will not be posted retroactively if a student fails to register by the last day to add classes in a given semester. This course has requirements for participation, including but not limited to an employment offer letter, student mid-term evaluation, and student/employer final evaluation.
