University Honors Program Track 1 and Track 2
Approved July 30, 2026
University Honors Program Track 1
This 33-hour curriculum replaces the university’s Blazer Core Curriculum (excluding the Quantitative Literacy requirement).
UHP 130 Honors Interdisciplinaryand UHP 131 Honors Interdisciplinary (9 credit hours each) - These team-taught seminars are on a topic that integrates knowledge and learning from multiple disciplines and compels students to think critically about complex issues. Students are required to complete UHP 130 and UHP 131, each for 9 credit hours, in their first and second fall semesters respectively.
UHP Seminars (3 credit hours) - These seminars allow students to explore in-depth topics not covered in traditional classes. Students are expected to complete five 3-credit hour UHP seminars. Substitutions may be made for six of these UHP credit hours, with approval from the Honors College Associate Dean or designee.
In addition to the required honors coursework, UHP students must fulfill the Quantitative Literacy requirement of the Blazer Core Curriculum.
Students who complete Track 1 (33 credit hours) with a minimum GPA of 3.5 will satisfy those requirements to graduate High Distinguished Honors from the Honors College.
University Honors Program Track 2
This 18-hour curriculum provides more flexibility to honors students to enrich education with UHP's unique offerings, but allows students to explore honors and other courses outside the UHP Seminars. The UHP track 2 does not completely replace the Blazer Core Curriculum.
UHP 130 Honors Interdisciplinary and UHP 131 Honors Interdisciplinary Honors Interdisciplinary (9 credit hours each) - These team-taught seminars are on a topic that integrates knowledge and learning from multiple disciplines and compels students to think critically about complex issues. Students are required to complete UHP 130 and UHP 131, each for 9 credit hours, in their first and second fall semesters respectively.
Students who complete the 18 hours of honors credit and a minimum GPA of 3.5 would then satisfy the requirements to graduate with Distinguished Honors from the Honors College. Students may also take additional courses to reach the minimum 30 honors credit hours with a minimum GPA fo 3.5 to graduate with High Distinguished Honors if desired.
